Jerry Shoemaker continues to be a driving force in the curling community as he works to bring the 2017 Olympic Trials to Saskatoon. He was the first president of Curl Saskatoon in 1990-1991. After serving on the Saskatchewan Curling Association from 1998 - 2002, he was elected to the Canadian Curling Association and served as president from 2005-2006.
Jerry has come a long way since starting to curl as a 10-year-old in Plunkett and moving to Saskatoon where he has been a member of Granite, Nutana and CN clubs. He was elected to the Granite board in 1982 and became its president in 1987-1988 year. He was an organizer, director or CCA liaison in successive order for the last three Briers to come to Saskatoon.
Jerry was also the CCA liaison to the World Curling Association and Olympic Games. He holds a life membership in CurlSask and was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2007.
