Tribute to Ken Rowley

Ken was a member of the Hub City Curling Club from 1958 until it closed in 2007. He was first elected to the Hub's Board of Directors in 1964. Over the next forty years, he served as Secretary, President, Treasurer and chaired several committees, including the Bond Bonspiel and was organizer and chair of the 1st Hub City Senior Spiel in 1983. For years he represented the Hub on the Saskatoon Men's Curling Association.

In 1986, Ken was named Kinsmen Sportsman of the Year. In 1988, Ken was inducted as a Builder in Curling and Fastball to the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame.

Ken was a member of the Saskatoon Bid committee that successfully brought the Brier to Saskatoon in 1989. From this legacy, Curl Saskatoon was formed. In 1995, Curl Saskatoon honoured Ken with the formation of the "Ken Rowley Friend of the Game" Award to recognize"dedication, commitment, leadership, and outstanding volunteer service" by an individual to the game of curling. In 2000, Ken received the Saskatchewan Curling Association Scotty Richardson Memorial Award for his long-term contributions to the game.

Ken you were a great sportsman and will be sadly missed.
